Remote Access to eBooks and Full Text Articles
JHU Libraries provide access to full text articles from a massive set of databases, but to get to them when you’re not on campus you need to follow some extra steps.
- JHU Libraries catalog
- Use “Online” Format filter
- Provides full text access where available
- Browse databases by subject or title
- Use when you know the database or subject you want
- Going to a database via this site will allow you to access full text articles where available
- Find full text articles and some eBooks, as well as patents, book reviews, and more
- Use when you know the title or author you are looking for
- Search via library.jhu.edu > Articles & Databases > Google Scholar to ensure you get full text access where available
- You can also configure Google Scholar to always recognize you as a Hopkins affiliate, here’s how
Secure VPN
When you log into the VPN all your internet browsing will be routed through the campus network, giving you access to articles, databases, and other tools that you can automatically open while on campus.
Using the VPN can be a good option if you are doing an extended online research session because you won’t have to worry about logging in in multiple places or having your session time out. It reduces the amount of troubleshooting you have to do if you have difficulty accessing the full text of an article you need.
To sign up for the VPN, log in to my.jh.edu and follow the steps in the left side bar under “VPN.” For help, check out this guide from JHU IT.
You may request electronic delivery of articles that are unavailable in full text using the methods above. Contact circmail@jhu.libanswers.com with questions about requests.
*Note that delays in borrowing during the COVID-19 closure may occur.
