The biological sciences collection supports the research and teaching performed at the Homewood campus, primarily within the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences.
The departments and program focus primarily on cellular and molecular biology, even in the undergraduate program. Biophysics emphasizes the application of math and physics to biological functions. Biology emphasizes quantitative and analytical methods. Each department runs their own graduate programs, as well as a shared doctoral program. The Biology Department has a long-term NIH training grant that supports some of their graduate programs.
Subjects covered include: cellular biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, biophysics, genetics, proteomics, protocols, computational biology, bioinformatics, and quantitative biology.
Environmental science, ecology, and animal behavior are covered in other collection development statements. Clinical information is covered by Welch Medical Library.
Biological sciences researchers exhibit a strong preference for online resources, across formats.
